Types of gloves use to protect against chemicals exposure.

We all are aware that the usage of hand gloves can avoid many hand injuries, skin diseases, exposures. Sometimes or we can say many times people think that they can work without wearing hand gloves in a dangerous place also; however, this is a totally wrong way to do work.

So in this article, we are going to see what all types of gloves are used to protect against chemicals exposure.

As the first step is to identify the chemical hazardous in your working area and then according to it, you will need to choose for the gloves for your hands. So now let us see all the types of gloves from which you can select the one according to the need.

Latex Gloves:  The latex gloves are the most commonly used gloves. These gloves are the least expensive gloves used in occupational settings. By the words of Don Groce ” The latex gloves are not very chemical resistance and mostly are used in the medical and food industry as it protects from the bloodborne pathogens “.

The one big concern of latex is that it can get an allergic reaction to the skin as the powder in the gloves. There is also the possibility of contact dermatitis or asthma due to latex.

Nitrile Gloves: Nitrile Gloves are so good and have high chemical resistance and are less expensive as compared to other gloves. These gloves are highly used in the broader variety of applications than other gloves.

Jim Slosser, a consultant for QRP and Guardian, has said that Nitrile gloves should not use with ketones, strong oxidizing acids, and organic chemicals containing nitrogen. Also, the Nitrile gloves tend to have poor flame resistance.

Neoprene Gloves: The neoprene gloves have high and excellent chemical resistance for the broad range of chemical hazardous, which includes acids, alcohols, oils, and inks. The neoprene gloves are not recommended or use with inorganic oxidizing agents as they are having highly concentrated chromic acid or nitric acid. The most important property of the neoprene gloves is flexibility and dexterity.

Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC ): PVC gloves are also known as plastic or vinyl. The PVC gloves are mostly used in the petrochemical industry. The main reason why PVC gloves are most popular is its cost it is very inexpensive, and also you can use these gloves as the disposable gloves. The PVC gloves have the better chemical resistance as compared to other gloves.

Poly Vinyl Alcohol ( PVA ):  When it comes to dealing with aromatics and chlorinated chemicals, nothing is better than PVA gloves. As the PVA gloves are made up of the out of a water solution, so they are water-soluble.

Viton Gloves: The Viton gloves are made up of expensive polymer. Due to the use of expensive polymer, these gloves are very expensive in price. Viton gloves have extreme resistance to chemicals and heat so they are used in the aerospace industry. Vitol is also used in o-rings on the Challenger Space Shuttle.  These are some types of gloves use to protect against chemicals exposure. Just remember about the environment in which you are working before choosing the type of gloves.
